The treatment of foot and ankle disorders involves a thorough understanding of systems and organs in other parts of the body. These conditions that most often begin in the foot, ankle or leg are conditions resulting from stress, improper shoes, and muscular imbalance. Containing 28 separate bones, numerous joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, nerves and blood vessels, our feet and ankles are very complex. Certain high-risk groups, such as diabetics, must take particular care of their feet. This condition frequently reduces the blood supply and sensation to the lower extremities.

Conditions Treated

We classify foot and ankle disorders as acquired, hereditary, or traumatic. Some of the common conditions treated by Dr. Wilson include:

Ankle sprains
Birth deformities
Bone spurs
Flat Feet
Hammer toes
Heel spurs
High arches
Nail problems
Skin disorders
Sport-related injuries
Work-related injuries

Some of these conditions are evident because of the pain they cause; others may go unnoticed for years, only to become symptomatic in later life. Some symptomatic conditions, such as diabetes or arthritis, may initially present as a foot problem.

By continually researching the very latest and most advanced medical and surgical procedures, we offer our patients treatment that is efficient, effective and as painless as possible. In many cases, surgery is not required, but even in those cases where surgery may be indicated, Dr. Wilson is well-trained in state-of-the-art corrective surgical techniques of the foot and ankle.

Many conditions that previously required hospital stays and prolonged recuperation can now be performed as outpatient surgery.
